Welcome to Bovigen's website...
Bovigen LLC, is an innovation driven genomics company developing a
portfolio of world class DNA technology products. Our mission is to
promote excellence in the beef industry through the discovery,
independent validation and commercialization of genetic tools that add
value and enable producers to positively impact the economics of the
beef industry. By utilizing a simple DNA test, producers in all sectors
of the beef industry are able to make better management decisions that
will improve the quality of their herds and create a long-term positive
economic impact.
From the World’s very first DNA diagnostic
test for cattle – Thyroglobulin – now part of GeneSTAR® Quality Grade
– to our latest release of GeneSTAR® Feed Efficiency , the first
and only DNA test that can identify an animal’s genetic ability to
efficiently convert feed; Bovigen has been and will continue to be the
leading supplier of DNA technology to the beef industry.
Research is the
lifeblood of DNA diagnostic testing. As producers and feeders increase
their utilization of this technology, they will also gain greater
understanding of it's uses and limitations. They will in turn demand
additional markers with greater impact on each trait as well as markers
for additional traits such as disease resistance and fertility.
Bovigen stands ready to address these needs.
By combining our own efforts with the efforts of others around the
world, such as our first right of refusal to commercialize for the
Americas outcomes from a package of technology being developed by a
Consortium of CSIRO, the Beef CRC I and II partners and Meat and
Livestock Australia, we stand at the forefront of this exciting new
technology. Bovigen’s most recent Research & Development project
focuses on the National Carcass Merit Project. This project was a
ground-breaking collaboration between a group of Universities, led by
the Texas A&M University System, and fourteen Breed Associations.
Coordinated by the NCBA, the project was primarily funded by the Beef
Checkoff Program and is a continuation of work from Texas A&M’s
Angleton Project. Bovigen will now take the lead in the next step of
this extensive research program and will turn this project into a set
of real world genomic tools that the average beef producer can use to
positively impact his bottom line.
"Our mission is to promote excellence in the beef industry
through the discovery, validation and commercialization of genetic
tools that add value and enable producers to positively impact the
economics of the beef industry."
